An Architectural Masterpiece
Built at the end of the 1st century A.D., the Nîmes Amphitheater stands out as the best-preserved amphitheater in the world. With its façade punctuated by 60 superimposed arches and its ingenious circulation system, the structure is a testament to Roman civil engineering, capable of accommodating up to 24,000 spectators.
Did you know? Its perfect elliptical shape and dimensions (133 meters long by 101 meters wide) make it a model of architectural balance that experts still study today.
